The players in one of my D&D groups gravitate toward chaotically aligned characters. I typically play lawful characters. This creates some roll playing challenges and personal frustrations. I had an idea to play a selfish and chaotically aligned Paladin, but that doesn't really suit the champion of light and justice presented in the PHB. Dark forces of the realm needs champions too! So, I created the Dread Knight which can be a vehicle for the Oaths of Vengeance and Conquest as well as the Oathbreaker in the DMG. I also created two new Oaths to support more nefarious motives.
